Almost there...

I feel like I'm limping toward Thanksgiving. I got sick this week and went in an hour late to work today. I thought about not going in at all, but the week after Thanksgiving I'm going to a conference in Boston for two school days and I don't really want to miss that much school. But since I was not feeling well, I think I was extra impatient with my kids.

There was a boy who had asked to take a test later because he missed two days of school this week. We were arranging to meet today and he said that he couldn't meet second period because he had to take a test. Then when I came in second period, he was lying on a bench with a cushion under his head talking to his friends. When I pointed out to him that he had told me he was going to be busy, he said he was studying for a test. His friends confirmed that, but I told him that he should try a little harder to look like he was studying. Then I said that I could only meet with him for the last fifteen minutes of lunch instead of the whole period. I wasn't going to let him waste too much of my time. Annoying kids. They goof off then expect me to help them on their time schedule. But I bet that's what we do to mommy and daddy sometimes and they're always gracious. I never know when to be gracious or when to hold a kid to a standard. Does that magically come when you become a parent.

On a happier note, tomorrow is Cindy's early Thanksgiving party. I get to practice making my tasty stuffing and some desserts. Yippee! I just hope I feel better by then...but that won't stop me from going shopping with Tut and looking for presents with the Gap and Ann Taylor friends and family cards.
